Jamberry Leader Retreat 2014

photo-40

Last week I had the honor of attending the very first Jamberry Leader Retreat!! What an amazing company I have been blessed to work with! The retreat was in Park City, UT. I never had any desire to vacation in Utah, but now I can’t wait to go back. It was beautiful.

We stayed at the Hyatt Escala and had an incredible view of the mountains. I’m not a big fan of being cold so September was probably perfect for me, but it looked like an awesome place to ski!

I let my team pick out my wraps for the event. I think they did pretty good!! We went with Mad Mod and Puppy Love.

One of my favorite things about Jamberry is getting to meet some amazing people. I got to spend time soaking up knowledge from 70 other leaders. I can’t even begin to tell you how great these women are….

They sent us home with all kinds of goodies!!!! (all but the chocolates made it home)

Patti & I with Adam (the best CEO ever) & Super Jared (the CPO). I would post the video of the hypnotist show but I’ll spare those that participated. It was great though!!!! :)

One of our speakers was Leta Greene. If you ever have the chance to hear her speak I would highly recommend it! What an inspirational woman! With a very talented tooth!! :)

Jamberry Nails

One of the most frustrating things to me has always been my nails. I loved going for manicures and pedicures but I had practically given up on manicures because the polish wouldn’t even last a day. I tried solar nails but I couldn’t stand the thought of the damage from the UV lights. A few months ago my girls discovered these magnificent things…..

what a croc 9346_10202793601392084_155107437_nJamberry Nail Wraps are the hottest trend in nails. The newest way to accessorize your fingers and toes! If you think you’ve tried something similar you are probably wrong.

competition 1531881_10202857605592149_2034215440_nThey are non-toxic, non-damaging, won’t chip, have no dry time and are made in the USA!

Why try to create a Pinterest look that will chip the next day, when you can just do this….

pinterest 1510550_10102002958247578_1781053371_nThey are really easy to apply. My 11 year olds do theirs without any help at all. It took me about 3 applications to perfect mine but each application gets easier. I can do a full set in about 15 minutes.

My daughter just took hers off yesterday on day 17. They still looked perfect. I can’t believe I forgot to take a picture! But these are mine on day 7….

Step 1: Wash hands with Blue Dawn Dish Soap.

Step 2: Clean nails with a NON-moisturizing nail polish remover or alcohol.

Step 3: Buff top of the nail, clean once more with nail polish remover or alcohol, and push back cuticle.

Step 4: Match nail (finger or toe) to the nail shield that best fits. It’s better to be too small than too big. You don’t want the shield to touch skin or cuticle or it won’t seal properly.

Step 5: Peel off nail shield using an orange stick or tweezers and warm with the heater for 10-15 seconds or until soft and flexible. (The heater is only $19)

Step 6: When warm, press the shield onto the nail.  Apply firm pressure around edges to adhere the shield to the nail.  Use rubber cuticle pusher to seal the shield around the cuticle.

Step 7:  Trim the top with scissors and file off remaining shield using a downward motion to remove excess. (or you can use nail clippers)

Step 8: Apply heat and pressure to the shield again until it is sealed to the nail. (Repeating this step several times helps create a tight seal to the nail surface and increases wear time)

How to remove:

There are 2 removal options for Jamberry Nail Shields. For Nail Shields that have been worn for more than 10 days we recommend following the Gentle Removal Process.

Quick Removal Process: Heat the shields with the heater for 15 seconds. Then break the seal by getting under the edge of the shield with your opposite thumb nail. Slowly peel the shield from side to side. If the Nail Shields are not peeling easily or the adhesive is still bonded to the nail bed then follow the Gentle Removal Process.

Gentle Removal Process: Soak the Nail Shields in nail polish remover for 20-30 seconds and gently rub them off. Soaking will break down the adhesive bond and allow them to easily slide of the nail bed.

Personally, I prefer heating olive oil for about 20 seconds and slowly loosening the shields while they are soaking. (Just make sure you get your hands prepped well afterwards if you are about to apply another set)

The Fitbit One

photo-31

A few months ago I bought a Fitbit One. I’d never heard of them before but when I saw it I knew I had to have it. It’s my favorite gadget ever! (well, next to my iphone and macbook….)

(Click on picture for purchasing info)

It is small, about 2″ long and it clips easily onto your pocket or bra. It tracks your steps, distance, calories burned and stairs climbed. It monitors how long and how well you sleep. It even has a silent alarm to wake you up. You can sync to it through the app or through your computer. You can set goals, monitor your progress and earn badges. You can also add friends to get support or challenge each other in friendly competitions.

In the app (or on your computer) you can monitor what you eat, track your water intake, keep track of your weight and your measurements.

I love it!!!

Moroccanoil Treatment and Restorative Hair Mask

Yesterday was my birthday so I took a break from cooking, only to find out that my stockpile of blog recipes had been depleted. So instead I thought I’d share this with you…

Moroccanoil -

I’ve tried every professional haircare line under the sun. Nothing compares. So far I’ve only tried the treatment and the mask, but once I use up all of my other products I will be running to the store to get the rest of the line.

Moroccanoil Treatment - Conditioning, styling and finishing product. Speeds drying time.

Intense Hydrating Mask – argan oil–rich formulas deeply hydrate and condition while improving hair’s texture, elasticity, shine and manageability.

On a side note….for my birthday I got a Hot Pink Cuisinart stick, a George Foreman grill and panini press and a cookbook with 200 panini recipes so I hope y’all like paninis!!!

Tea Bags for Puffy Eyes

So because this had come in handy the last few days…. There are many home remedies for puffy eyes. But since I make tea daily I decided to throw the tea bags in a ziploc bag after I’m done and put them in the refrigerator. Not only does it help to hold the moisture in but it keeps them cold until you are ready to use them. Lay down and place on eyes for 5-10 minutes (or if you’re like me, until whenever you wake up again)

Clifford the Big Red Dog is the hit of book fair! Love seeing the little kindergarteners faces light up when they come around the corner and see him. Megan humored me with a picture, Taylor said no way. I don’t know why she thinks she’s so grown all the sudden.

Water with Lemon

I read that awhile back that Lauren Conrad starts each day with a glass of water and fresh squeezed lemon. So I decided to do some research on the benefits.

It’s good for your stomach – it aids in digestion, heartburn and nausea.

It helps to flush toxins out of the body.

It’s good for your health – it helps to fight colds, helps with weight loss, helps curb cravings, acts as a natural diuretic and boosts your immune system.

Makes you more attractive! – Clears skin and freshens breath.

Some other claims…helps to control high blood pressure, helps with respiratory disorders and arthritis.

So I figure it’s worth a try! Twice a day….
